Tasmanian Wilderness is a collective term for a collection of the national parks and reserves in Tasmania. Covering an area of 13,800 square kilometers, or roughly 20% of Tasmania's land area, it is one of the largest conservation areas in Australia. It is also one of the last expanses of temperate rainforest in the world. The Tasmanian Wilderness was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site during the 6th session of the World Heritage Committee which met at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, on 13-17 December 1982.
