Located in Anhui Province, it is the quintessential mountain immortalized in art and literature, and is often the subject of many Chinese ink paintings. Mount Huangshan has been a pilgrimage site of sorts, drawing poets, painters and now photographers who come here to marvel at its mersmerizing sceneries. Today legends of tourists make a beeline to enjoy the craggy beauty of Mount Huangshan. In recognition of its outstanding universal value, the World Heritage Committee inscribed Mount Huangshan as a UNESCO World Heritage Site during its 14th session held in Banff, Alberta, Canada, on 7-12 December, 1990.
