What to See in Mehmed Paša Sokolovic Bridge in Višegrad

The heritage site comprises the Mehmed Paša Sokolovic Bridge, the access ramp, and the two river banks upstream and downstream, covering an area of 1.5 hectares protected by a 12.2 hectare section of buffer zone.

The Mehmed Paša Sokolovic Bridge has in fact suffered damage through the ages, including a severe blood in 1896, and war ravages in both the first and second World Wars. The bridge was reconstructed in stone in the early 1950. Despite this, the authenticity of the original design has generally been maintained through the successive restorations.
