Marvels of Modern Architecture celebrates the man-made wonders. Beginning with the Eiffel Tower, completed in 1889, man has constructed increasingly massive structures, to serve their utility needs as well as to support their lofty ambitions.
In the last one hundred and fifty years, technological advances in civil engineering has allowed the construction of taller, longer, and bigger structures than it was ever possible. Structures which in the ancient times would have required decades to complete, at the expense of thousands in manpower, are now built in a mere few years, with only a small number of workers.
On this page we visit the skyscrapers, bridges, airports, stadiums, statues, shopping malls, office blocks and other structures whose design has generated awe.
