Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley, or Vall del Madriu-Perafita-Claror, is a glacial valley in Andorra. In 2004, it was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site - the first and only for Andorra - not so much for its natural significance, but rather because it provides a glimpse at how people has made use of the resources of the high Pyrenees range. An ancient communal system has been in place to manage the land for the past 700 years. The Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley covers an area of 4,247 hectares, which is 9% of the total area of Andorra. What to See in Madriu-Perafita-Claror ValleyThe Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley has high pastures and craggy cliffs. The valleys are forested. There are mountain ranges to the south, east and west. On the north is an escarpment that drops away into the Valira valley.Photos![]() Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley, Andorra Author: Aliento Más Allá (Creative Commons Attribution 2.0) ![]() Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley, Andorra Author: Gallicant Photos provided by Panoramio are under the copyright of their owners ![]() ![]() House in Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley Author: Gerard MUSSOT Photos provided by Panoramio are under the copyright of their owners
