They straddle the border between San Juan province and La Rioja province, in the northwestern part of the country. Ischigualasto and Talampaya National Parks are famous for its dinosaur fossils. In 2000, these two national parks were jointly inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites during the 24th session of the World Heritage Committee on 27 November to 2 December 2000 in Cairns, Australia. What to See in Ischigualasto & Talampaya National ParksIschigualasto/Talampaya National Parks are most famous for dinosaur bones. They contain the most complete continental fossil record from the Triassic Period (245-208 million years ago). There are six geological formations in these two parks with fossilized remains of mammals, dinosaurs and plantlife that reveal the evolution of vertebrates in the Triassic Period.In addition to fossils, the national parks are famous for its prehistoric petroglyphs, beautiful rock formations and panoramic landscape.
