Islands come in all shapes and sizes. Some are famous for their natural beauty, while others are noted for the human intervention that has created something magical out of them. Indeed, no two island is entirely similar. On this page, I have assembled a list of what I consider the most fantastic islands in the world. They cover a whole spectrum of islands, isles, islets, keys and so on. Most of the islands are grouped by country. Some however, especially those in the Caribbean, are grouped them according to geographical location. Hence, Cuba is listed under Greater Antilles while the island of Hispaniola, which I also list under Greater Antilles, is split between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Similarly, the United Kingdom is split between Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the island of Éire. I am in the process of documenting each of them.
