The Brazilian Atlantic Islands of Fernando de Noronha and Atol das Rocas are the peaks of a south Atlantic submarine ridge. Both islands are territories of Brazil. Baia de Folfinhos is home to the biggest concentration of dolphins while Atol das Rocas has a fantastic coastline dotted with lagoons and tidal pools that are rich with fish.

The Brazilian Atlantic Islands were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site during the 25th session of the World Heritage Committee meeting in The islands were recognised for their importance in the protection of biodiversity and the endangered species of Southern Atlantic. The Brailian Atlantic Islands are a repository for the maintenance of marine biodiversity.
